Obituary
Just across from Greenwich Railway Station, Googies offered sustaining home-cooked vegetarian food in their friendly relaxed café since its foundation in 1989.

Run by two sisters, Rubina and Czarina Hansen, Googies gave you a choice of innovative dishes drawn from many ethnic sources--and variations on traditional dishes, with most of the menu changing on a daily basis.

By day, it had a cosy ambience that lent itself to friends gathering to chat, play chess or peruse the newspaper; but by evening it transformed itself into an intimate candlelit restaurant, offering quality dishes which the sisters claimed ranked among the best value in Greenwich.

Googies often hosted exhibitions of art and usually had a weekly programme of theme nights presenting dishes from round the world plus music, poetry, and even astrology nights for an evening with a difference.
